7th & 17th: Homecoming (2017)

Photographed on 35mm in Columbus, MS, these images explores the interior and surrounding landscapes of the home that my grandfather was born and raised in. Situated at the corner of 7th & 17th, the house was built by my great great grandfather, who was born into slavery and once freed, was the second black man in Columbus to purchase property; where he built this home. 

The home still remains in our family today, and remains a gateway to the past and a reminder of where my grandfather started.
